- Preheat oven to 425°F (~218°C)
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, & baking powder.
- Add in shortening/lard, and cut in with a pastry blender until the mixture is the constistency of cornmeal. (if you don't have a pastry blender, you can just mix it with your hands)
- Make a well in the center of the mixture, pour in milk, and mix to form a dough.
- Place dough onto a floured surface, coat both sides in flour, and roll into a rectangle about 1/4 of an inch (~6mm) thick.
- Spread butter evenly onto the dough. Mix together the brown sugar & cinnamon and sprinkle on top of the butter.
- Roll it up into a log from the short edge, then slice into 12 pieces. (cut using a sawing motion to prevent squishing it)
- Place pieces into an ungreased muffin pan (or just a baking sheet if you don't have one) and bake for 12-15 minutes.
